Dear R,
A very similar question was put across to me by one of the visitors to my blog during the last week-end. I am not sure if you are the same person.
To answer your question, if you possess a Bachelor’s degree, you should have atleast 4500 hours of experience in leading and directing project activities spread over a minimum period of 36 months, in order to be eligible for appearing in PMP certification exam. Now, if you have handled independent projects (or their modules or functions) in terms of being responsible for their analysis, design, development, testing, and implementaion, you can include such experience when determining your eligibility. However, an important point to keep in mind is that you should have been responsible for assigning activities to your team members, and you should also have been involved in communication with the customer (and/or other stakeholders).
Remember, the PMP exam does not require that your designation include the word ‘Manager’ before you become eligible for it. However, you should have perfomed the role of managing a project (or its component).
